Suddenly, Trash is Looking Good

Removing bulky trash takes muscle, and two friends in Washington, D.C., are capitalizing on that fact. Omar Soliman and Nick Friedman (pictured at left) are making their company — College Hunks Hauling Junk — an attractive option for residents by hiring hardworking, clean-cut college students to remove unwanted items. The business partners funded Hunks, which began as a way to earn money during college, with savings and a $10,000 entrepreneurial award.

The growing roster of 25 employees includes undergrads, athletes, and law and med students. Remembering their not-too-distant past, Soliman and Friedman donate part of the company's revenues to a local college scholarship fund. They plan to franchise nationally in the next six to nine months.
